New Layouts

I've been quite busy this week! I finished the costumes for the Halloween (only 2 days away!) . And, in the meantime, I finished 3 layouts!!!

It is so good to go through some of the early birthdays of my children. What memories!!! I tried to capture some really cute moments.

This one is the first birthday of my first child. So cute!!! And Vovo was here to help celebrating such special moment.

This is the second birthday of my second child. Somehow, I could not find pictures of his first birthday!!! Again, very cute! I can see that he was fascinated with the Pinata.

Of course, I had to scrap some Halloween pictures. Wasn't that one cute!

All layouts were made using kits from the Raspberry Road Design (Birthday Bliss and Happy Haunting kits) . Drop by there and check the wonderful kits that are available.

I had a great time putting these layouts together.

Thanks for looking

Halloween - Where are the Costumes?

I have not been a good blogger!!! I just realized that my last post was almost a month!!! There are lots of projects going on, as usual, but I had not time to blog (pictures, editing, etc).
As Halloween is getting near, I want to show how the costumes are turning out.
As I mentioned in the previous blog, one of my children is going to be a pirate. Lots of pieces, and work, to be a pirate LOL

The shirt is quite simple (and it should be :-) ) The only part that will end up showing at the end are the collar and the end of sleeves. The pants is another part that is quite simple. I still did not put the elastic (I am trying to get the main parts done. To put elastic it does not take too long). The boots turned out quite nice. The fabric that I chose was perfect. The seams in the front and the "lapel" (I do not know how it is called...) is quite nice.
Then, we have the more complicated parts. The vest was easy to make (and fast). However, I still did not put the buttons (I want to put all the buttons at once).
Finally the coat. It is beautiful!!! I am not done yet. There are still some ornaments on the sleeve to be sewn, and the back of coat is also not finished.
I spent a long time in stores trying to find the right button for the coat (for the vest, I found some nice gold buttons). I did not want gold for the coat. It would be too shiny for my kid's taste. So, I decided to make some. I made out of polymer clay.
I just loved the way they turned out!!! I only laid some on the coat to take the picture. I have to sew LOTS of them later. I better hurry :-)

Now, the Tucan Costume. This is for my other child. He wanted shiny: I made it shiny. It is gorgeous!!! I did not use the material they recommended for the beak and the tail. I also put more tough stuff for the beak.

This is the body. Very simple to make. My only problem was to deal with the kind of thick fabric I chose for the back of the body. I still need to put buttons. Nothing fancy there: only yellow plastic buttons that will be hidden by the fabric.
The back of the body was also a change. I did not use the material for the tail. I made it shiny!!! Very shiny. My child is happy, and I am happy LOL.
Finally the beak. It turned out just amazing (it looks much better than the photo). I lined the whole beak, as I do not want my child to get uncomfortable. Hopefully, he can put up with the stiffness. I still need to put velcro at the neck part.
So, now it is your turn.... What do you think?
